It has no fat, is high in fibre and low in calories. It also carries benefits for your skin as it is high in vitamin C. </p>
<p>So how does this diet work? It&#8217;s very simple. You eat half a grapefruit before every meal. The enzyme it contains reduces your appetite so you consume fewer calories. It also speeds up the fat burning process helping you to shed pounds. Everyone knows that if you use more energy than you take in from the food you eat, you will lose weight. Some studies suggest that you could lose up to ten pounds in less than two weeks simply by introducing this change. Personally, I believe you would have a better chance of success if you also cut your portion sizes, ate four or five smaller meals rather than three large ones.And took more exercise. </p>
<p>It is completely pointless thinking that one simple change in your lifestyle is going to result in a big weight loss. You need to review all areas of your life. Do you eat food because you are bored? Upset? Do you get enough exercise? Most Americans are not active enough. You don&#8217;t suddenly need to become a gym fanatic but a little extra activity every day will help. I am sure you can think of a million ways to add some movement to your sedentary lifestyle. You could take the stairs instead of the lift; get off the metro one stop early, walk to the store etc.</p>
<p>In the same way, you can make progress by implementing simple changes at mealtimes. Instead of frying your food which only adds extra calories, try grilling, baking or steaming. Learn how to cook rather than relying on prepackaged meals that add dollars to your bills as well as pounds to your waistline. Use herbs and spices to flavor your meals rather than salt to help prevent fluid retention.</p>
<p>Eat more fruit and vegetables. They are high in fibre, low in calories and very filling. Your skin will glow from all the extra vitamins and minerals you are consuming. Don&#8217;t eat carbohydrates after 5pm in the evening as your body will not have sufficient time to use up all the energy they release. The body converts excess energy into fat. </p>
<p>Eat protein but chose the leaner cuts of meat and forget about sausages and other processed foods for now. Don&#8217;t exclude all treats but go for quality rather than quantity. Stop eating when you are full and not when your plate is empty. </p>
<p>Don&#8217;t mistake being thirsty for feeling hungry. And stop ingesting hidden calories via flavored waters, fizzy pop and perhaps the biggest culprit of all, alcohol.</p>
<p>You can shrink your waistline by using the 12 day grapefruit diet. but only if you combine it with a healthy eating and exercise program.</p>

<p>Directions</p>
<p>Whisk whole-wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl. </p>
<p>In a small bowl, combine egg, buttermilk and honey. </p>
<p>Make a well in dry ingredients and stir in egg and buttermilk mixture. Allow batter to rest for a few minutes.</p>
<p>Set a nonstick frying pan to medium-high heat. Drop batter by 1/4 cupfuls on to griddle or pan. Cook until the edges begin to dry and bubbles appear in the pancakes. Flip and cook for 1-2 minutes more.</p>

<p>First of all, there are any number of dieting books that come out each year. These range from no carbs to all carbs and everything in between. Some are based on specific food combinations. Others are based on strict calorie limitations. If something feels right in your gut, it&#8217;s okay to try it for a few weeks and see if it pays off. Nothing you do for a few weeks is going to kill you.</p>
<p>The more popular diet books inevitably lead to paid membership web sites, supplements, and other money making ventures. If a diet has been successful for you, it may make sense to join. However, you should stick to the book&#8217;s plan for a few weeks before investing more money in the program.</p>
<p>Other programs are based on meetings. For instance Weight Watchers takes an approach where you can have a specific number of calories (divided into &#8220;Points&#8221;) each day. You also attend weekly meetings which are a combination of weigh ins and cheerleading sessions. If you decide to do Weight Watchers as your lose weight programs, consider going to two or three meetings at different times before you settle on one. That&#8217;s because different meeting leaders have different styles. Further, the mix of people at a meeting can affect the tone, so find a group you are comfortable with.</p>
<p>Jenny Craig is a great lose weight programs for busy people who want to be able to microwave their meals. Everything except a few products from the produce isle and milk is included with the program. You will also meet one on one with a consultant to track your progress and do the weekly weigh in. The problem with Jenny Craig is that it is very expensive. You will spend $150 a week or so on &#8220;Jenny Food&#8221; and then another $30 to $50 at the grocery store. However, the food is quite good, and some even say it is restaurant quality.</p>
<p>Nutrisystem provides a similar program at a lower cost. The food is shipped to you four weeks at a time. Three fourths of the meals are &#8220;shelf stable&#8221; (ie. freeze dried) and don&#8217;t need to be refrigerated. A new component to the system is their frozen food which composes one week of food each month that you can spread out through the month. The freeze dried food tends to be not so good. However, this is a much cheaper option for those who cannot afford Jenny Craig.</p>
<p>There are so many lose weight programs around that you have to pick and choose what you want. Don&#8217;t swing from diet to diet. Instead, pick a plan that feels right and stick to it for the long run or until you meet your weight goals.</p>
